Home

The sense of belonging is what we all crave for at some point in our lives and while most of us find it at some place or the other, some of us really have a hard time realising the fact that not everyone belongs. Some of us are just scattered like those few rose petals that somehow fall off the flower and while it still is a rose petal, it no longer belongs to that rose. Neither does it belong to the ground on which it fell. It is just there, on it’s own.

Some of us don’t feel like we belong to the home we were born, to the family we have and neither do we feel like we belong with the rest of the world. We spend most of our lives trying to fit in and feel what it feels like to belong somewhere and yet when we return back to our apartments at night and retrieve back into our shells, we feel this hollow feeling in our chest, this weird feeling of not knowing what to call ours and which place to call home.

I hope someday we wake up and realise that we are our home. We were supposed to belong to ourselves. We were built to stand by ourselves and be our own family. We were not meant to belong to the crowd or to anywhere else for that matter. I hope someday we smile and finally get over the act of fitting in and gladly accept that even if the petal fell, it still is a rose petal and holds all the values of the rose and isn’t just a waste. You are still valuable even if you don’t belong.
